Primary and Secondary

As a teaching theatre, the Coliseum offers a creative and vibrant environment for learning. Our team of practitioners are highly experienced at facilitating workshops for all age groups ranging from pre-school to postgraduate level.

In addition to providing workshops to accompany Coliseum productions, we also offer Continuing Professional Development opportunities for teachers and students and a full master class programme covering the areas of directing, set design and technical theatre.

Primary Education Partners Scheme

Focussing on developing literacy through drama, this scheme introduces a variety of techniques and strategies that can be used in the classroom to support the teaching of English, language development and cross-curricular work.

Central to the scheme is developing an integrated approach to delivering ‘speaking and listening’, ‘reading and writing’.

Cinderella Pantomime Workshops

Panto is often the first piece of theatre that children get the opportunity to see so the Education Department at the Coliseum want to bring some of that special Panto magic to your school through a fun and exciting workshop!

We are offering seasonal Pantomime workshops based on this year’s production of Cinderella that will not only bring a huge amount of fun to your classroom but will also work to encourage team building and communication skills, through exploring the exciting theatre style of pantomime, characterisation, panto conventions and the story of Cinderella. Using props and costume, children will learn new skills and will get to act out their own mini pantomime.

The workshop is ideal for Primary school children at Key Stage 1 and 2. The total cost for these workshops is £75 for a one hour workshop or £175 for the day. Workshops can take place in school and can be delivered before or after seeing the production at the Coliseum.

Please contact Nicola Place Education Co-ordinator on 0161 785 7007 or email nicolaplace@coliseum.org.uk to discuss ways we can work with your school.
