If you’re planning a Christmas treat for all the family, you and your friends or your school, group or workplace, then look no further than Oldham Coliseum Theatre’s legendary pantomime.

Oldham Coliseum Theatre has long been known for its excellent annual, traditional pantomime. There’s not a cheesy celebrity in sight – just excellent actors-singers-dancers who serve up the very best in festive traditional fun that’s great for kids and not-so-grown-up grown-ups!

Staged in a beautiful 525 seat theatre in the heart of Oldham, families and friends come from miles around to see the Coliseum’s panto and experience our 135+ year history.

The Coliseum advantage:

  • Cheap parking close to the theatre
  • Good public transport links including buses and Metrolink
  • Plenty of places to eat nearby for all the family including Nandos and Molino Lounge, plus popular independent favourites: from curry to pizza/pasta and burgers
  • Traditional theatre experience – “a truly family entertainment venue” (TripAdvisor)
  • Friendly, warm welcome – TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence – “the kids loved it” (TripAdvisor)
  • Affordably priced drinks, snacks, programmes and merchandise – “very reasonably priced” (TripAdvisor)

2021’s pantomime was Aladdin and it was a huge hit with our audiences. With an audience of 33,000+, this is surely one of the biggest and best pantomimes around!

Popular performance times such as Christmas Eve, Boxing Day and New Year’s Eve always sell out very quickly so do book early to avoid disappointment. If you’re booking online and can’t find the seats you’re looking for, please contact our Box Office team who’ll be happy to help.

Our 2022 pantomime was Robin Hood and, as usual, it was packed full of laugh-out-loud gags, thigh slapping songs, and a generous helping of “It’s behind you’s!”.

Disabled Audiences

Pantomime is a treat for ALL the family and a time for everyone to get together and have some fun.

Every year the Coliseum’s pantomime comes complete with a British Sign Language (BSL) interpreted performance for our Deaf audiences, an Audio Described performance with a Touch Tour for our Blind / Visually Impaired audiences and a Relaxed Performance suitable for those with sensory, communication and other needs.  Please see our pantomime page for specific dates of these Access performances.

An Infrared Assisted Listening System for our Deaf, Deafened or Hard of Hearing audiences is installed.  If you have any queries about the system, please contact us via access@coliseum.org.uk

If you have a family member on the Autism spectrum and they need some quiet time out of the auditorium, there’s a relay screen in the Stalls Bar which is located on our ground floor.  Here you can chill out, watch the action on stage on a screen in a quieter environment so you don’t miss a thing.  We have crayons, paper and colouring in books here too. You may also want to consider our Relaxed Performance.

Family members in wheelchairs are catered for – please make sure to explain your particular Access requirements when you book your tickets and specify whether you want to transfer from your wheelchair into a seat or whether you need a wheelchair space.  We recommend you speak to our Box Office team rather than book online if you have any Access needs – this way we can find you the best possible seats and give you expert service personalised to your needs.

Our staff and Customer Experience Volunteers receive praise every year:

“Went to the afternoon performance with my son who is a wheelchair user…nothing was too much trouble – they even took an extra seat out to accommodate my son’s wheelchair which is very big.”
