Are you passionate about creating theatre for everyone?

We are currently seeking new trustees to help us on our journey as we evolve as one of the UK’s leading producing theatre companies. As part of this exciting transformation and are looking for people who are visionary, entrepreneurial and passionate about the role of arts and culture in creating healthy, cohesive and resilient communities in the North of England.

It is critical to the success of our charity that board members reflect Oldham’s many diverse communities. As part of the Board of Trustees you will have the legal responsibility of being the primary decision makers for Oldham Coliseum Theatre (Ltd). You will act in the best interests, set the strategy or plan, make key decisions, and oversee the running of the charity. Training for people new to a trustee role is offered – for more information on what being a trustee entails please click here.

Oldham Coliseum Theatre (Ltd) is a registered charity whose mission is to provide a wide variety of distinctive and high-quality theatre performance and participatory activities for people from all communities in Oldham, Greater Manchester and nationally. We will achieve this making live theatre that is both popular and inspiring and ensuring that the Coliseum and its work is an integral part of the cultural and artistic life of its community.  We will develop opportunities for a wide range of participants to learn through theatre and develop their theatre skills across all areas of the company and acting as a major focal point in the social and economic regeneration of Oldham.  It is important to us that we nurture and develop Oldham based and regional creative talent through courses, work experience, volunteering and mentoring. Through our work we will build community cohesion, explore our individual cultural identities and common ground.

Oldham Coliseum Theatre (Ltd) has previously operated the Oldham Coliseum Theatre building on Fairbottom Street in Oldham. After closing to the public at the end of March 2023, Oldham Metropolitan Borough Council have recently decided to re-open the original theatre building and will become the new operators in 2025. This provides an exciting new opportunity for the charity to reimagine its business plan to explore producing theatre not only in the theatre in Fairbottom Street but across Oldham with a range of different partners and new places.
