Sid Akbar is an actor, writer, and performer from Bradford, known for creating bold, thought-provoking work. Recent highlights include his acclaimed solo show Besharam [Shame-LESS] at Kala Sangam, exploring queer identity and cultural heritage, and How To Be Lucky, a heartfelt exploration of refugee experiences.
As founder of Dhamaka Arts, Sid celebrates queer South Asian stories through vibrant, community-driven performances. Passionate about amplifying underrepresented voices, he blends humour, honesty, and intersectional themes to inspire connection and dialogue.
Sid also has a successful screen career, mostly recently filming a role in Ronan Day-Lewis’ debut feature film Anemone. He also starred in BBC Radio 4’s Whose Baby?
