Coliseum at the Roundabout

We are excited to share more details about events taking place at our new pop-up theatre space ‘the Roundabout’, which opened to the public at the end of April.

Coliseum at the Roundabout, with its distinctive bright yellow bubble shape, is located opposite Queen Elizabeth Hall and will host a variety of theatre, performance and creative opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds from May through to July.

This month’s programme is now on sale! Find out more here.

Lauren Clancy, Interim Chief Executive, Oldham Coliseum Theatre, says: "We’re thrilled by the response to our opening weekend and the number of people that came into our new pop-up space. We’ve got a wonderful programme lined up - with something for everybody - and we can’t wait to welcome even more visitors over the coming months. I want community groups representative of Oldham to be creative in here. I want students and young people to find pathways to theatre craft in here. And finally, I want artists and audiences to meet and share in live performance. Coliseum at the Roundabout is open!”

Artists, companies and other partners presenting work at Coliseum at the Roundabout include: Alys Williams in association with Park Theatre; writer Afreen Islam-Wright; writer Cathy Crabb; Dare to Know Theatre; Faz Shah and Oldham Theatre Workshop; award-winning actor and writer Gerel Falconer; Half Moon theatre company; Hulme Grammar School; director and theatre maker Miranda Parker; Oldham College; Phosphorous Theatre; theatre company PSYCHEdelight; Rock Choir; Sh!t Theatre; theatre company SWITCHFLICKER; and performers Wright & Grainger.

We are also delighted to welcome the return of Cultivate Festival, our initiative for anyone wanting to get into different areas of theatre. This year’s programme includes workshops on theatre producing, technical theatre and creative writing, as well as keynote talks from some of the country’s leading artists and makers.

Full Circle, our over 50s group, also continues through the summer, hosting events in our new pop-up space, including talks from John Tomlinson (Stand and Be Counted Theatre), Coliseum Associate Artist, Lauren-Nicole Mayes, performance poet, producer, actor and creative Nasima Bee, and Emily Skelton (In My Shoes Theatre). You can find the full summer programme online here.

Coliseum at the Roundabout will also present Culture and Chips, an opportunity for local people to come together to discuss art and culture in Oldham over chips. Open to everyone, Culture and Chips is a space to discuss what you’d like to see and how the Coliseum can best serve the community in the future. Coliseum at the Roundabout will host guests from Oldham and beyond to talk about their practice, connection to Oldham and vision for the future. So what are you waiting for?
