    The Future of Art, Theatre and Culture


    An opportunity for local people to come together to discuss art and culture in Oldham over chips.

    Open to everyone, whether you currently engage with the Coliseum or not, Culture and Chips is a space to discuss what you’d like to see and how the Coliseum can best serve the community in the future. Coliseum at the Roundabout will host guests from Oldham and beyond to talk about their practice, connection to Oldham and vision for the future.

    The final edition in the Roundabout will be hosted by Mark Newsome talking about the future of art, theatre and culture.

    To celebrate the final edition at the Roundabout we will provide pie and chips. Veg and meat options available.

    Mark Newsome is a talented actor hailing from Oldham. Born and bred in a working-class family, Mark's gift for acting was unearthed during his teenage years at Oldham Theatre Workshop. He further cultivated his skills through training at the National Youth Theatre and later pursued a professional education at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff, Wales. Mark's career is highlighted by his lead role in the critically acclaimed one-man show, "Phil Pearson's Blackpool: What A Shit Place to Die." This compelling performance explores Mark's journey towards self-acceptance, touching on themes of sexuality, autism, and personal battles with addiction. Not confined to the stage, Mark graced our screens as Prisoner 'Streaky' in the popular Channel 4 drama series, "SCREW". Beyond acting, Mark's talent shines through as a gifted Comedian, adding humour and depth to his multifaceted artistic portfolio.
