Khushi Festival
Over the years, Khushi has become a much-loved and highly anticipated festival, growing more successful each year as it reaches wider audiences and brings diverse communities together.
The concept of Khushi was developed in 2017 by the Women’s CHAI Project, growing from a desire to share and celebrate South Asian heritage, culture, creativity, and the simple joy of coming together.
At the heart of Khushi is a brilliant partnership between two outstanding parent organisations – Oldham Coliseum Theatre and The Women’s CHAI Project – supported by Oldham Council, whose shared values, creativity, and commitment to community make the festival possible.
Khushi Festival celebrates the richness and diversity of South Asian communities through vibrant live performances, music, dance, art exhibitions, and hands-on creative activities, alongside family-friendly experiences, delicious street food, and plenty to enjoy for all ages.

Khushi Festival is produced by Oldham Coliseum Theatre in partnership with the Women’s CHAI Project. Supported by Oldham Council and with thanks to Oldham Theatre Workshop.
Every year, Khushi Festival works with community groups within Oldham. In 2026, these include the Indian Association- Saheli Group, Yuvani’s Foundation, WestOldham CHAI Project, Greenhill CHAI Project and Freehold CHAI Project.
