New for MASHUP 2026: Become a sonic diarist. Explore the firsts, turning points and unforgettable moments from your life.
Your first bus journey alone. Your first heartbreak. Your first protest. Your first kiss. Your first job. Your first long goodbye.
You’ll capture everyday sounds…buses, streets, voices, laughter, breath…and transform field recording into an exciting new live performance. Together, you’ll blend in text to experiment and create a short original piece.
You'll leave with:
- A brand-new creative community
- A new idea (or two, or three) for a creative project to take further
- Mentorship from professional artists; a new connect to OCT
- Experience making original multidisciplinary performance
- A sharing of your work
No experience? No problem.
MASHUP is about taking creative risks, trying new things and discovering what happens when different artforms combine. Whether you’ve been making work for years or you’re just starting out, you’ll be supported to find your voice, develop new skills and make something only this group could create.
MASHUP is a series of workshop sessions taking place in central Oldham, inviting you to join the programme anytime from now until November 2026.
The sessions are every other Monday, 10:30am – 1:30pm, on the dates: 14th & 28th September, 12th & 26th October, 9th & 23rd November, 4th & 18th January.
There is a final sharing day on Friday 22nd January, 10am – 4pm.
You are welcome to join for your first session up until the 9th November session, and you must be available for the full day session on Friday 22nd January.
We’re welcoming applications from new creatives until Sunday 1st November.
MASHUP is for artists who live in the borough of Oldham, with an OL1-9, or M35 postcode. You need to be aged 18-25 to apply, but if you are aged 26 and super passionate,
email us – it might be possible!
