New for MASHUP 2026: Become a sonic diarist. Explore the firsts, turning points and unforgettable moments from your life.
Your first bus journey alone. Your first heartbreak. Your first protest. Your first kiss. Your first job. Your first long goodbye.
You’ll capture everyday sounds…buses, streets, voices, laughter, breath…and transform field recording into an exciting new live performance. Together, you’ll blend in text to experiment and create a short original piece.
You'll leave with:
- A brand-new creative community
- A new idea (or two, or three) for a creative project to take further
- Mentorship from professional artists; a new connect to OCT
- Experience making original multidisciplinary performance
- A sharing of your work
No experience? No problem.
MASHUP is about taking creative risks, trying new things and discovering what happens when different artforms combine. Whether you’ve been making work for years or you’re just starting out, you’ll be supported to find your voice, develop new skills and make something only this group could create.
MASHUP is a two-week intensive programme taking place in central Oldham between 17 –28 August 2026.
You must be available for all sessions:
WEEK 1: Monday 17, Tuesday 18, Wednesday 19 & Thursday 20 August (evenings from 5:30-8:30pm)
WEEK 2: Monday 24, Tuesday 25, Wednesday 26, Thursday 27 August (evenings from 5:30-8:30pm). Friday 28 August (all day from 10am-4pm).
MASHUP is for artists who live in the borough of Oldham, with an OL1-9 postcode. You need to be aged 18-25 to apply, but if you are aged 26 and super passionate,
email us – it might be possible!
