Puppetry, Punjabi Music, Folk Legend, Part of Bradford City of Culture 2025

Can music and storytelling keep heritage and culture alive?

Kauser’s two daughters are keener on Capital FM than their mum’s Punjabi music, so she's sharing her own story and the life and songs of Punjabi folk legend, Alam Lohar, with us instead!

Join Kauser's magical journey through the music she loves, and the culture she’s proud of.

Khooghi (Dove in Pahari) is a beautiful sufi poem from the Saif ul Malook written in 1863 by Mian Muhammad Bakhsh. Retold in English and Pahari, the story is brought to life in a toy theatre with over 30 funny and fabulous puppet characters. Khooghi is a story of Hope & Faith in the face of adversity.

Arrive early and hang around afterwards for fun crafting activities, just as you would expect in Khushi Festival’s joyful and inclusive approach.
